Masakatsu Yamada, owner of Tatsumi, a popular restaurant in Hakodate

At the age of 30, Mr. Yamada trained at a soba restaurant in Tokyo to open his own restaurant, and in 1973 he opened the ramen restaurant “Tatsumi.” After opening the restaurant, through repeated trial and error, we increased the number of set meal menus such as fried chicken and ginger grill.

We achieved 10,000 days on December 12, 2021, but the new coronavirus occurred in 2020, but due to requests from regulars that it was difficult to visit the store due to the influence of the new coronavirus, we decided to change the set meal and rice bowl menu. We started taking away.

Masakatsu Yamada, the owner of the restaurant, says, “I want people to eat cheap, delicious, and hearty set meals and bowls at home,” offering 20 different menus, including fried and grilled fish, and comes with a generous 350 grams of rice.

The best-selling items are the fried chicken set meal (640 yen) and ginger grilled set meal (same), and rice bowls such as katsudon (600 yen) and oyakodon (same as above) are also popular.

Taeko Mizushima (65), an employee who lives in the neighborhood, supported her shop while Ms. Yamada was away. She’s been running the store for over 20 years, and she’s two people.
