Konosuke Matsushita, the founder of Panasonic. He came here and learned a lot.

What is the secret of Konosuke Matsushita’s success in paving the way?

I will answer these questions.

Konosuke Matsushita laid the foundation of the Japanese economy and nurtured a large corporate group.

His story of success and skill as a manager have attracted attention, and various people have studied his methods in the past, and many books have been written.

He himself has written several books, among which “Opening the Way” and “Thinking about Humans: Advocating a New View of Humanity, Seeking the True Way of Humanity” have been read for half a century. It’s a masterpiece, and one of the most helpful books for getting to know him.

In this article, I would like to learn about business success from Konosuke Matsushita.

The disaster that befell Konosuke Matsushita

pana歴史博物館

After the war, GHQ (General Headquarters of the Allied Powers) ordered the dissolution of the zaibatsu as part of its occupation policy, and Matsushita Electric (currently Panasonic) was also designated as a zaibatsu.

At the time, Matsushita Electric was not a large company, but it had a business division system, which was further developed into a branch company system, so it appeared to GHQ as a large company.

GHQ designated the Matsushita family as a financial conglomerate and froze their assets. Matsushita was also stripped of management rights.

Mr. Matsushita must have had various thoughts going through his mind as he endured his banishment.

From the story up to this point, if you’re an ordinary person

You’re already in despair

Nothing, anxieties about the future…

Konosuke Matsushita will revive Matsushita Electric later, but he has another idea.

Although it has not been smooth sailing so far, sales have increased and management has stabilized. However, if the mother turtle falls, the baby turtle will fall too.

If the world turns upside down, company management will not be able to stand. That is why politics must be firmly steered, and at the same time, managers must have a deep interest in politics. Based on this thought, Mr. Matsushita built an organization that will be the driving force for the development and stability of the political economy.

That is Matsushita Seikei Juku and PHP Institute. Konosuke Matsushita had a “way of life” of looking deeply at himself, polishing his heart, and making aspirations.

There is no room for petty greed or selfishness. “Selflessness” is the essence of one’s way of life, and isn’t that kind of firm “Yamato spirit” what is most sought after in today’s world?

Konosuke Matsushita’s Origin Shrine

There is a “Kongen no Yashiro” in the forest of the founding of the head office (and two other locations).

Before talking about this company of origin, I would like to get closer to the essence of Konosuke Matsushita.

Some of you may have read this book about him, but I would like to highlight the following: “Proposing a New View of Humans, Seeking a True Human Way” (published by PHP Institute in February 1975) )

I think that the contents of this book from the beginning to the fourth chapter are part of the essence of Konosuke Matsushita, who created that big company.

Before thinking about business management, we will take a look at the upstream.

Business→Human→Nature→Earth→Space

In addition, Konosuke Matsushita also states the following in “Practical Management Philosophy” (published by PHP Institute in June 1978).

“A correct management philosophy is not merely subjective to the individual manager, but must be based on the laws of nature and the laws of society. The universe can continue to create and develop from an infinite past to an infinite future, and within that, I believe that human society and human communal life will continue to develop infinitely, both physically and mentally. This theory of generation and development works in this universe and society, and we are doing business management in it. Based on this idea, I have created my own management philosophy. ”.

Konosuke Matsushita: “Isn’t it strange that someone like me, who was not blessed with anything, managed to succeed!” . . “Honestly, does he really know why this happened???”

At one point, Konosuke Matsushita thought that he should be grateful for what made him exist.

Who made me exist? Parents who gave birth to them, and their parents, and their parents. . . . Thinking about it more and more. . . . . founder. . . . . . Nature. . . . Earth. . . . . universe. I became grateful to the universe.

Konosuke Matsushita: “As a result of thinking about this and that for a long time, human beings were created from the origin of the universe, and it suddenly came to me.”

“If you trace the roots, you can go past the first human and reach the roots of the universe. Then, the feeling of gratitude for “being able to exist here” must actually be to the roots of this universe. It will happen.”

Therefore, on April 18, 1962, at the Kongen Shrine, he wrote “Gengen” in ink on a cypress board and created his own god (great being).

He said, “The primordial force of the universe makes all things exist, and he is the source from which they are born and developed.”

thank the origin

Konosuke Matsushita: “The feeling of gratitude is something very important for humans.” I guess.. Therefore, happiness will never be born from a place without gratitude, and in the end, humans will be unhappy!”

“The more gratitude you have, the more happiness you feel in direct proportion to it.”

“Prayers for the origin are also prayers for the ancestors,” he said.

It is said that Konosuke Matsushita often meditated and prayed in front of this Negen-sama.

So what was he thinking in front of this Gengen-sama!? ! ?

<Here is my review>

To meditation. . . . He was in tune with his own ‘inner being’, connecting with the ‘great being’ of the invisible world. By harmonizing with each other, you must have received intuition and inspiration for all aspects of your business.

He was making judgments about certain things. Go back to the root, is it true? He also confirmed his own feelings. You can’t go wrong if you make a decision from there and act accordingly.

Everything that happens to you, the phenomena that are happening around you, should be in line with the principle of the origin of the universe. Don’t resist, accept, surrender yourself.

As an individual, when I was depressed, when I was at a loss, when I was worried, when I was angry, etc., as my own compass, I faced Gengen-sama and was in harmony with my true self (inner existence).

A prayer of gratitude, an honest heart…

Konosuke Matsushita said, “There is one rule in the power of the root. That is the law of nature.

Konosuke Matsushita: “Well, I’ve been thinking about things like that myself, and I’ve made it to this day. I guess the nature of all things in the universe was also my teacher.”

“My way of thinking about management is not limited to a single frame of management. You applied the conclusion to management!”

Konosuke Matsushita was always thinking about the essence of the universe, the essence of nature, and the essence of human beings.

◉ Negen-sama is neither a religion nor a god; it was created by Konosuke Matsushita. and there is nothing in it. His idea of “root” is included.

But it’s not empty, it’s not because you can’t see it. Even if you can’t see it, it exists. “It’s just empty.”

◉I have no intention of forcing the origin company on the readers. However, if you think that you are connected to human beings from the origin of the universe, don’t you naturally feel a sense of gratitude?

I think he still needs to learn and think about his thoughts on the origin of the universe, his views on nature, humans, and business.

I would be happy if you could refer to it even a little.

Thank you for reading to the end.
